Burnaby Lake Regional Nature Park features a glacier formed lake that is abundant with many species of wildlife. Burnaby Lake is located right in the center of Burnaby. This park is best suited for those who enjoy nature and walking along paths lined with trees and grasses with several areas from which to view the lake.

Through an extensive series of walking paths you can enjoy a good part of a day walking the 11 km's around the lake and looking out for the many species of wildlife that make this area their home. Some of the commonly seen critters include osprey, belted kingfishers, blue herons, bald eagles, ducks, beavers and even turtles. You may see the odd garter snake slither across the walking path into the tall grass. The park also features a wildlife viewing tower, a nature house, picnic areas, playgrounds and washrooms.

Bus Connections

From Metrotown Station take either the #144 SFU or #110 Lougheed Station bus and get off at Sprott Street and Kensington Avenue. From Sperling Station take the #144 Metrotown or the #110 Metrotown bus to the same stop (opposite side of road). Cross over Kensington Ave and walk west along Sprott Street into the west entrance to the park. Follow the paths through the sports fields to the start of the trail network. Note if boarding at Sperling Station be sure to take the 144 or 110 Metrotown, not the 144 SFU or 110 Lougheed Station - both directions pick up in the same respective bays. Alternatively, you can also walk to Burnaby Lake from Sperling Station along a new trail. Just cross over the pedestrian overpass immediately south of Sperling Station bus loop and continue along the trail for 800 meters into the park.
