Metro Vancouver boasts over 7000 restaurants including some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world. In order to qualify for our recommendation, restaurants must be within a few blocks of a Vancouver SkyTrain station and must have consistently above average user reviews. Many of our recommendations are also based on our personal dining experiences in Vancouver.
A growing phenomenon in downtown Vancouver, is the addition of many new food carts scattered throughout the downtown streets. The longstanding JapaDog carts have commanded lunch hour lineups for years but recently, the city has decided to license a substantial number of new food cart vendors. There are many fantastic new offerings on the streets of Vancouver, such as Tacofino, KaboomBox, Fresh Local Wild, and Re-Up BBQ. Many of these street carts are a great place to grab a quick bite while you are out sightseeing. While friendly on the wallet, many of the food offerings are extremely tasty and well prepared. In fact, a visiting food critic from the UK was quoted in the Guardian describing Vancouver street food as the best in the world. Also Canada's top chef recently gave many of the offerings very high ratings.
We haven't included national fast-food franchises in our recommendations, as you are likely already familiar with their offerings and there are no shortage of them to be found. Keep in mind that the majority of shopping centres listed on our Destinations page feature a food court and many also have one or more stand alone restaurants. You will also find links to restaurants located in several of the Parks featured in our Destinations section. The relative cost and type of food served and walking directions from the SkyTrain are provided along with a link to the restaurants Official Website if available.
